The Culture Train

I was commissioned by Multicultural Cumbria to create a community engagement project for their community festival, The Culture Bazaar in Carlisle, Cumbria.

Aims

• Create a train to be added to the parade at the festival

• Encourage new and existing local community members to engage with the festival

• Build community members creative and social skills

The workshop was run over a single day and it was a drop in. Some people stayed all day, some came for a short time. People were encouraged to find a way to help, and if they were stuck, they would be guided. This meant that people could participate in any way they felt comfortable, it also led to a lot of people really challenging themselves.
