Community Mayflies
I was delighted to be joined in the massive effort to make mayflies by wonderful people at The Barnton Bunker!
I have personally hand-cut around 10,000 mayflies by myself for previous exhibitions. I opted to make them alone for previous ones as I felt that had more impact and made people really reflect on how people use their time - and whether they cherish it.
This time, I want to unpick what it means to cherish your time. It is a phrase that is used by people a lot, but what does it literally mean to cherish your time? Is it thinking, living in the moment, writing it down or is it all of those things and more? I am keen to find out what it means to different people.
So I will be making mayflies with as many people as I can, having these conversations as well as sharing the mindful practice of making the mayflies with others.
I had a brilliant first session at the Bunker. I got to learn how to teach people to make mayflies, plus we got to discuss plans for the exhibition, which was very exciting!
